Early Morning Meetings
Rise and Shine!
As we kick off Recovery Awareness Month this September, it's the perfect time to start each day with intention and support. LifeRing Secular Recovery's early morning meetings create a welcoming environment that promotes camaraderie and understanding, reminding us that recovery is not just about facing challenges, but also about celebrating progress.
By beginning the day in community and encouragement, we can cultivate a sense of purpose that carries us through our daily lives.
This month, let's celebrate every step taken on the path to self empowerment and the connections that uplift us all. Together, we can make this Recovery Awareness Month both meaningful and inspiring, embracing the journey ahead with hope and resilience!
Meet Our Early Morning Convenors!
ALEXIS began his recovery journey in 2021, where LifeRing's Online Meetings were a major part of his early sobriety. He hosts a Recovery By Choice workbook meeting weekly:
Any Given Sunday | Sundays at 8:00am Pacific
This Recovery By Choice Workbook Meeting cycles weekly through the domains of Body, Exposure, Activities, People, Feelings, Lifestyle, History and Culture. The meeting an open-format discussion using the workbook to prompt our sober talk. You don't need the book to attend, participate, or even just listen.
SYLVIA has been with LifeRing since day one of her recovery journey in 2020. She has been convening online since 2022. As a retired clinical psychologist, she provides evidence-based information while emphasizing everyone's individuality. Her style is playful and she promotes co-healing. She currently convenes the following early morning online meeting:
Our Garden | Fridays at 8:30am Pacific
This topic meeting starts with a brief guided meditation, followed by a brief overview of an evidence-based recovery/health and wellness topic, with the focus on a robust conversation about the reviewed topic or any topic requested by participants. Attendance averages 35 people in various stages of recovery. The vibe is playful, informative, and supportive to cultivate personal and collective growth.
Sober After Sixty Something (SASS) | Sundays at 7:00am Pacific
This is a focus meeting. Topics are generated by any participant or the convenor. Although most participants are 60+, anyone is welcome. Attendance averages 20 people in various stages of recovery. Our crosstalk/conversations are rich and lively.
TRAVIS has been with LifeRing since beginning his recovery journey in December 2022. He began convening six months later to give back to the community that had helped him so much. An attorney and producer of music for TV and film, he currently convenes the following meeting:
All Muse, No Booze | Thursdays at 6:00am Pacific
This is a HWYW check-in meeting that often touches on how creative endeavors, broadly defined, can help us in recovery. Attendance averages between 25-30 people, some of whom may share recent artwork, music, or writing along with their regular check-ins. Having a creative career or hobby is by no means a requirement, and all are welcome!
