Local Meetings

image of people in a LifeRing Local MeetingLifeRing local meetings offer a confidential and supportive space for individuals committed to sobriety. In these small, circular gatherings, a convenor (a person in recovery themselves) hosts an open discussion, typically asking "How was your week?" Participants share their current recovery experiences and future plans, focusing on present-day events in a relaxed, living-room-like atmosphere. The only requirement to participate is a desire to be sober, and you must be sober to speak. To ensure a positive environment, "war stories" about past substance use, unsolicited advice, and discussions on religion or politics are avoided. Meetings often conclude with applause for sobriety, and while participation is free, voluntary contributions are accepted. These meetings are confidential, and attendance can be credited by courts and treatment programs.

All meetings included on the LifeRing Meetings Calendar are official LifeRing meetings, which possess a LifeRing Meeting Charter and are required to abide by the LifeRing philosophy of Sobriety, Secularity, and Self-Empowerment. Any other meetings using the LifeRing name or materials may be unofficial meetings, and may not be wholly representative of LifeRing.
