The LifeRing 3-S Philosophy

Sobriety

Sobriety means abstinence from alcohol and other addictive drugs, unless medically indicated and taken as prescribed. LifeRing views medically-assisted recovery as a decision made between patients and their treatment providers.

Secularity

Out of respect for people of all faiths and none, LifeRing conducts meetings in a secular way, meaning LifeRing does not use prayer or religion.

Self-Direction

Recovery is based on self-empowerment, motivation, and individual efforts. Each person decides what works and builds their sobriety upon that foundation.

Crosstalk

Crosstalk is the heart of all LifeRing meetings. This conversational exchange of shared experiences and methods supports the development and maintenance of personal recovery plans.

OUR VISION

To empower individuals worldwide to achieve lasting and fulfilling recovery, fostering a future of well-being and resilience.

OUR MISSION

Provide Sober, Secular, and Self-Empowered recovery pathways.

The LifeRing Experience:
Connection and Community

The LifeRing approach works mainly by bringing people together.

The main purpose of our meetings is to reinforce the desire to get sober that lives within each of us.

LifeRing recovery meetings exist not to judge you or shame you or guilt you, but to support you in building your sober present and future.

LifeRing is uncompromising about the need for abstinence, but very flexible about how you get there and stay there. You will be asked to take only one step: don't drink or use, no matter what. You will be encouraged to make sobriety your priority in life, and to make any changes that may be necessary toward that end.
